Central location

Our main campus has a central location in the heart of Melbourne’s central business district, on busy Swanston Street, less than five minutes walk to Flinders Street Station. Close by are tourist hotspots such as Federation Square, City Square, and the Yarra River. We are surrounded by a large number of diverse restaurants, bars and shopping precincts. Our Melbourne city campus is easily reached by tram and by train.

Campus facilities

Modern classrooms

We have high quality classrooms equipped with all necessary modern technology to assist you with your learning. Natural lighting from vast windows is a feature of our Melbourne city campus.

Free internet, free wireless and computer laboratory

The student common room on level 8 at our Melbourne city campus offers free use of computers and free internet access for students with free wireless. Located on Level 3 is our Independent learning centre (ILC) which allows students access to internet, printing, resources and self paced learning and reading.

Common room

Our students have the ready use of a recreational common room, on Level 8 of the Melbourne city campus. It is a perfect area for students to relax between classes. The common room offers kitchen facilities and vending machines along with tables and chairs for studying and eating, as well as for relaxing and chatting with fellow students.

Resource centres nearby

Melbourne’s City Library is located within minutes of Hales Institute. The City Library offers students a wealth of resources, including CDs, DVDs and printed reference materials including books and journals. The State Library of Victoria is also close; only a couple of tram stops up Swanston Street.

Hospitality training’s modern kitchens

Two years ago, we proudly opened modern kitchen facilities in our South Melbourne campus. This state-of-art facility is at the forefront of hospitality training and cooking classes in commercial cookery in Australia. The complex includes our own café for providing students with practical training in the field. Our Hospitality Department provides students operational work experience with activities such as corporate functions to increase their learning experiences.

Hairdressing training’s salon

The Melbourne city campus has a fully equipped salon to provide full practical training for students of hairdressing and styling.
